Member of the week - Adam Roe
Name: Adam Roe
Where are you from: Westmead. Grew up in Windsor
What is your occupation: Emergency Department Registered Nurse
Do you like Kebabs: Mixed double meat baby
What were your lifts when you started: Ive been training on and off for about 15 years. I started as a 58kg skinny teenager. Now weigh about 125kg. When I first started at PTC about 7 months ago I was squatting 150kg, benching 150kg and deadlifting 230kg.
What are your lifts now (Squat, Bench and Deadlift): At nationals in July I squatted 220kg with knee wraps, Benched 183kg and Deadlifted 282.5kg
Do you compete in lifting: I compete Powerlifting and have recently done a strongman comp (strength quest NSW nationals qualifier). I have 2 full PL comps under my belt. GPC States and GPC nationals this year. Im currently training for ProRaw4 in Frankston Vic on Nov 10. After that I might give strongman another crack.
What is the most important thing you have learnt at PTC: I have learned a lot about correct training technique, particularly in the big 3. Also never knew what foam rolling was until I started at PTC. I have learnt to love the prowler
Why do you train at PTC: I initially joined PTC to do some Strongman specific training as I was getting into it and the gym I was going to at the time didn’t have any strongman equipment. Now I train there as It’s a great environment with good people. Its powerlifting orientated with a lot of like minded people too. Trent also buys us pizza on a regular basis to keep members happy
How many curls can you do: If Im using the Texas deadlift bar in the monolift, I don’t count reps, just go for maximum burn, peak contraction and pump. Im really focused on texas bar/monolift curls in lead up to stereo so I can gain all the bro’s respect.
Where did you train before PTC: Riley’s Gym Seven Hills. A hardcore bodybuilding gym.
Why did you change from your previous gym: As mentioned, I wanted to do some strongman training and also wanted to get more into powerlifting. I had been at Riley’s for about 4 years and wanted a change.
Can you briefly describe your average
daily meals: On a typical work day
Breakfast: Super power plus shake: Handful of frozen blueberries. Handful of frozen mixed berries. Banana. 3 scoops of protein (Bulk Powders WPC). 1 cup of oats. Reduced fat milk. Blend like hell
Morning tea: Eggs, bacon, hash brown, tomato, baked beans, wholemeal toast, milk, coffee
Lunch: Oporto triple fillet burger, 2 chicken strips
Post training: 3 scoops protein (WPC) 1 scoop carbs (dex, malto dex, WMS)
Dinner: Chicken or beef (aprox 300g), potato or rice, vegies
Pre Bed: 3 scoops protein (WPC) 500ml reduced fat milk
What do you do outside of PTC: Work. Eat. Chase the cat. Play guitar.
What are your goals: Firstly to total over 700kg. Then to squat 240, bench 200 and deadlift 300. Im hoping to achieve this at Proraw4 but expect this to be set in stone by nationals next year granted no injuries.
If you didn’t spend all your time at PTC, you would be: Training elsewhere. Sleeping more
Name one thing you would add/subtract/change about PTC: More metal!!! Paint the walls and monolift with blood. Make room for a pizza oven. Ban any further Bulldogs fans!!!
